Arktis’ solution was selected after an in depth evaluation of several other technologies. “We based our decision on technical merit and the fact that Arktis demonstrated that they were competitive,” said an AWE plc spokesperson.

AWE plc confirmed that the satisfaction with the new contract is mutual. “Arktis has established a good track record of providing us with high-quality, innovative goods and services. Their technology is unique, and has the potential to increase the UK’s nuclear security.”
The Atomic Weapons Establishment has performed a key role in the national defense of the UK for more than 60 years. AWE is a Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) establishment. The Ministry of Defence’s Management and Operation contractor is AWE Management Limited (AWE ML),a company consisting of three stakeholders – Serco Group plc, Lockheed Martin and Jacobs Engineering Group.
